Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan “is dangerous for the Armenian people by his very nature,” former Armenian President and leader of the Hayastan alliance Robert Kocharyan said during a rally in Kapan.
“Perhaps since World War II our people have experienced two man-made disasters — the 44-day war and the surrender of Artsakh. Who is the author of those disasters? Before 2020, he provoked war, gave Aliyev a chance to plan a war, ruined relations with strategic allies and created divisions inside Armenia. He did everything possible to weaken the country. In the end, we got war and defeat. Now he says he started building the army from zero. Doesn’t that remind you of anything? He started negotiations from a zero point and brought war, and now says we are building the army from zero, that everything existing before was ruins. The next target will be Syunik. We must stop this course,” Kocharyan said, according to Panorama.am .
He said the authorities are avoiding discussion of their election promises and have led the country to severe consequences.
“What is the political force that received the people’s vote in 2021 talking about? It does not speak at all about its promises. Frankly, this is probably one of the rarest cases — I do not know whether such a case exists anywhere in the world — when you come to elections and do not touch upon anything you promised in order to receive a mandate,” he said.
At the same time, Kocharyan said the authorities are nevertheless forced to say something during the campaign.
“He talks about a three-headed monster, about bringing war… this man says every kind of nonsense simply so he does not have to speak about his promises,” Kocharyan added.
He stressed that, in his view, the current prime minister has “neither conscience, nor intellect, nor memory.”
“We must remove this man, grab him by the scruff of the neck and throw him out. The political way to do that is to go to the polling station and vote for our force,” he said.
The election campaign that began on May 8 will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, and elections will take place on June 7. On May 25, it became known that the Alliance Progressive Centrist Party had submitted a withdrawal request, after which the Central Electoral Commission invalidated the registration of the party’s electoral list. Ballot paper number 13 will not appear in the upcoming elections.
