No Putin-Grigoryan meeting planned in Astana

A separate meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan is not planned during the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk told reporters.

“As far as I know, it is not planned, but perhaps there could be some informal communication,” he said, according to TASS.

He also stated that the situation surrounding Armenia’s intentions to join the European Union is creating uncertainty for investors.

“You know, of course, that the current situation creates very significant uncertainty, including for investors,” he said in response to a question about whether investment between Armenia and Russia is declining amid Yerevan’s plans.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that Moscow cannot accept Yerevan’s current approach regarding membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, according to which Armenia intends to remain in the bloc until it succeeds in joining the European Union. Galuzin also recalled that Armenia signed the treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union and documents regarding the union’s further development through 2030 and 2045.
