Armenian citizens returning from the Middle East and India due to the situation surrounding Iran have submitted around 500 applications for ticket reimbursement to the Foreign Ministry. The information was included in a draft presented by Armenia’s Foreign Ministry and approved during today’s government session.
Both individual and family applications have been received. According to preliminary calculations, approximately 450 million drams may be required for compensation, Sputnik Armenia reported.
The Foreign Ministry said some applications have already been approved and citizens are awaiting payments, while others are still under review.
Earlier, authorities stated that compensation of up to 250,000 drams would be provided to citizens who were forced to purchase return tickets at inflated prices because of the conflict. Payments will be made only if passengers did not receive compensation from airlines.
Ticket reimbursement is also planned for students studying in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Israel.
