Armenia and the United States will jointly work on developing a new geological map of Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said while commenting on the framework memorandum signed with Washington on the extraction and processing of critical minerals and rare earth resources.
Pashinyan noted that rare minerals have gained major importance in the context of artificial intelligence development.
“The purpose of the memorandum is to study Armenia’s subsoil using modern technologies. There are minerals that forty or fifty years ago attracted little interest beyond scientific circles, but today they are critically important for artificial intelligence and the production of technological goods,” he said, according to Armenpress.
The prime minister added that geological exploration is no longer always conducted through drilling.
“Through space research technologies, we will work on creating a new geological map of Armenia,” Pashinyan stated.
On May 26, Armenia and the United States signed a framework memorandum in Yerevan on ensuring supply chains in the extraction and processing of critical minerals and rare earth resources. The document was signed during the visit of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Armenia.
