Detentions reported in alleged vote-buying case

Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has released a new audio recording as part of an alleged vote-buying case.

According to the committee, investigative measures carried out jointly with the National Security Service led to the collection of factual evidence indicating that a representative of the Strong Armenia party, together with other individuals, allegedly provided bribes to a number of voters in Shirak Province in exchange for voting in favor of the party in the National Assembly elections.

A criminal proceeding has been launched by the Anti-Corruption Committee in connection with the incident.

Several individuals have been detained, and a number of procedural and investigative actions have been carried out as part of the case.

The election campaign, which began on May 8, will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, and voting will take place on June 7. On May 25, the Alliance Progressive Centrist Party announced its withdrawal from the race. Following the request, the Central Electoral Commission revoked the registration of the party’s electoral list. As a result, ballot number 13 will not appear in the upcoming elections.
