Several complaints related to the election process have been received, according to Gohar Meloyan, a parliamentary candidate from the Strong Armenia alliance and a constitutional law specialist.
Speaking to journalists, Meloyan said her team had received information indicating that some individuals were being pressured to remove the Strong Armenia ballot from polling stations as proof that they had not voted for the political force, Panorama.am reports.
“Dear citizens, this is a violation of the law. You may face consequences if it is established that you removed a ballot from a polling station. I once again urge you not to allow coercive measures to be used against you. Taking a ballot out of the polling station is not only a form of pressure against you, but also a legal violation that may have consequences,” Meloyan said.
According to her, the information received also suggests that some citizens are being forced to photograph or record on video the ballot they place inside the voting envelope.
Meloyan called on voters not to be intimidated by threats and not to comply with such demands.
The election campaign, which began on May 8, will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, and voting will take place on June 7. On May 25, the Alliance Progressive Centrist Party announced its withdrawal from the race. Following the request, the Central Electoral Commission revoked the registration of the party’s electoral list. As a result, ballot number 13 will not appear in the upcoming elections.
