Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against an individual accused of making a false report alleging that a military position in the direction of Jermuk had been surrendered to the enemy, Armenia’s Investigative Committee said.
A pre-trial investigation is underway within the Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee into the alleged false report and the organization of that false report concerning a combat position near Jermuk.
During the investigation, public criminal proceedings were initiated against A.Kh. under Part 1 of Article 476 of Armenia’s Criminal Code, which covers false reporting of a crime.
According to the Investigative Committee, A.Kh. fully admitted guilt and expressed remorse for providing false information claiming that a combat position in the Jermuk area had been handed over to the opposing side.
He stated that while intoxicated he attended a gathering organized by N.K., where he met A.A. According to his testimony, A.A., who was aware of his social difficulties, arranged an interview with a journalist on May 20, 2026.
A.Kh. also said that from April 17 to May 8, 2026, he had served as an observer on combat duty at a military position of a Jermuk-based military unit and remained sober throughout his period of service.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
