The parliament should be formed in such a way that no political force holds 50 percent plus one vote, said Edmon Marukyan, the top candidate on the Bright Armenia party list, during a meeting in Gyumri.
“Politically, we have a message. We say that no force should possess absolute power. We call on the people to organize their voting in such a way that no political force in Armenia will ever again have absolute authority. We saw absolute power before 2018, before the revolution, and we have seen it from 2018 to 2026. We believe parliament should be formed from several political forces in a way that ensures no single force has 50 percent plus one vote,” he said, according to Factor.am .
Marukyan also stated that the identity of the Armenian people and Armenian statehood is under threat.
“Our historical memory, our path through history, our cultural heritage, our religion, and the Armenian character of our state are under threat,” he said.
The election campaign, which began on May 8, will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, and voting will take place on June 7. On May 25, it became known that the Alliance Progressive Centrist Party had submitted a request to withdraw from the election, after which the Central Electoral Commission invalidated the registration of the party’s electoral list. As a result, there will be no ballot paper numbered 13 in the upcoming elections.
