Armenia’s Elina Danielyan suffered her first defeat by Hampy Koneru of India in the 8th round of the FIDE Grand Prix series. Danielyan leads the tournament with 6.5 points, followed by Koneru (5.5 points) and Marie Sebag of France.
Lilit Mkrtchyan was beaten by Georgia’s Nana Dzagnidze and is currently 8th with 3 points. In round 9, Danielyan and Mkrtchyan will face Martha Fierro (Ecuador) and Zhu Chen (Qatar).
