London’s 80000-seat Olympic Stadium construction completed

The final piece of turf has been laid on the field of play in the London’s 80000-seat Olympic Stadium, marking completion of construction of the venue for the London 2012 Games.

Construction started on the Olympic Stadium just under three years ago in May 2008 and has been completed on time, under budget and with an exemplary safety record.

Over 240 UK businesses have won contracts for the construction of the Stadium and over 5250 people have worked on the project over the past three years.
